The Production Artist is responsible for executing visually compelling designs from concept to completion, under the direction of the Design Director, Art Director, or Account Service team. With a strong emphasis on attention to detail, this role manages digital artwork for pre-press production and coordinates with vendors to ensure high-quality, timely delivery. The Production Designer balances creativity with production management, ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, accurately, and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities

Design & Creative

Concept Development

  • Create visually engaging design concepts for various media based on strategic and creative input.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors and copywriters to develop and execute innovative design solutions for campaigns, branding, and other client projects.
  • Design across multiple platforms, including print, digital, and social media, ensuring brand consistency and creative excellence.
  • Assist the Client Service team in creating presentations and materials for new business pitches and client reviews.
  • Ensure all creative work adheres to project specifications and meets client expectations for quality and style.

Software & Creative Tools

  • Maintain expertise in industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, etc.) and stay updated on emerging tools and trends.
  • Use digital retouching, image manipulation, and illustration techniques to enhance creative outputs.
  • Maintain knowledge of typography, color theory, and layout principles to create impactful designs.
  • Maintain organized digital files, ensuring that all assets are properly archived and accessible for future projects.

Collaboration & Creative Ideation

  •  Work closely with the creative team to brainstorm, conceptualize, and execute ideas from inception through final production.
  • Participate in design critiques, providing constructive feedback to improve overall creative quality.
  • Ensure that design solutions align with overall project goals and brand messaging, while also pushing creative boundaries.

Production Management

Project Estimation & Scheduling

  • Coordinate with the client service team to establish timelines, meet deadlines, and track progress.
  • Prepare production estimates based on account briefings and creative team input.
  • Obtain competitive quotes from vendors, ensuring the best price and delivery options for each project.

Production & Vendor Coordination

  • Manage the production process, ensuring that products are accurately executed and delivered on time.
  • Interface with external vendors, such as printers, photographers, and freelance artists, to coordinate project specifications and timelines.
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure that all production resources meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain an organized catalog of production samples.

Proofreading & Quality Control

  • Proofread all artwork to ensure accuracy and consistency before submission to clients or publication.
  • Ensure all artwork is proofread and approved by the account executive and client before use or publication.
  • Review proofs to ensure that final designs are executed as intended, maintaining quality standards.
  • Inspect produced samples for quality and accuracy.

Collaboration in Production

  • Work with the creative team to ensure a seamless transition from design to final execution, balancing creative intent with production capabilities.
  • Manage deliveries and ensure coordination between vendors and internal teams for smooth execution of all deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess an Associate’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in an advertising agency or related industry.
  • Strong creative skills with a focus on both digital and traditional design techniques.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other design tools.
  • Experience in both creative design and production processes, with a strong understanding of typography, color management, and layout principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple creative projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with both internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ability to regularly  lift 40 pounds
